RFE Poster (International Literacy Day)

LI: To raise awareness of international literacy day

On the 8th of September, it is the international Literacy Day where everyone around the world celebrates the day and takes their time to acknowledge literacy. Being able to read and write gives people a huge advantage. Literacy enriches lives, word knowledge and creates opportunities for people to develop skills that will help them provide for themselves and their family.

I found this activity interesting because I discovered new facts such as reading for at least 20 minutes a day could help you learn at least 1,800,000 words per year.

RFE Holiday Challenge Reflection

LI: To keep our reading

During the school holidays I have been doing RFE (Reading For Enjoyment) actvites. The RFE activities were created to keep the LS2 students reading during the holidays.

The people who took part would earn a prize when they come back to school. Some of the prizes were book packs, gift cards, rugby game tickets, etc. There’s also a point status for the people running it so they can keep up with the people who are doing it. There were challenges for everyday except for the weekends so we could catch up with activites we may have missed or need to catch up with. During the holidays, I was able to complete 9 tasks which is a week worth of activites.

I enjoyed doing this holiday challenge because it has helped remind me to keep reading during the holidays.

RFE Holiday Challenge: Day 5

LI: To keep our reading going during the school holidays

RFE holiday challenge, is an activity to keep our reading going in the holidays, which is shown by completing 1-3 activities for each day for our books we have read, and posting the DLO’s on our blogs.

Today I have done 2 activities. The book I read was ‘The Baby-Sitters, the truth about Stacey’ and ‘Drama’. It is about the challenges that Stacey faces including her past, health condiction, & the baby-sitters club. Drama is about Callie Marin expierences a lot of drama during her time in 7th grade. The main point of these activities was to write what super power I though the character would have. The second task was to describe the book and the characters in it using word art.

I found these activites interesting because it’s fun way to share what you know about the book I read.
