Chromebook Tip SLAM

LI: To share our chromebook tips with LS2

This week for cybersmart we created a demo slam. A demo slam is a quick 1 minute session where the presenter needs to show a chromebook tip or trick. We created these DLO’s to help others find faster ways to do something on their chromebook.

The chromebook tip I shared with the class was how to log out of your account. To log out of your account quickly, hold the ctrl and shift keys. Then press the Q key twice which will then log you out of your account.

A chromebook tip I learnt and enjoyed was how to find all the chromebook shortcuts. To find the shortcuts hold ctrl, and then press the / key which then will show a list of shorcuts.

I found this activity fun because I learnt new shortcuts that could help make things easier when I’m using my chromebook.

LI: To shine the light on who makes media and why

This week we took our second Newshound session with Mrs Grant. We were practising identifying who makes media, who they make it for, why they make it, and are there any hidden messages by listening to two different PODcasts.

Next, we learnt about how media shows two sides of a story and the type of language they used. Lastly, we needed to make a poster that would either advertise the article about a new type of cake, or warn people not to eat it. We needed to use the positive fact if we were advertising the cake but we have to use negative facts if we’re warning others about it. We decided to make a poster advertising it because there were more positive facts than negative.

I found this activity fun because I learnt how to find out who makes media and why.

LI: To understand how media has changed over time

This week we had our first Newshound session with Mrs Grant were looking at media and how it has changed over time. We went over the different types of media by looking at a image to see if we can spot them and if we have used them. Next, we wrote down the positives and negitives on how it was back in the 1980’s and how media is today. In pairs, we explained both sides on a screencastify.

I found this activity interesting because I learnt how media was back in the 1980’s and how it has changed over time.
